Cinnamon Streusel Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
I love a banana chocolate chip muffin as much as the next person, but I wanted to add a little something extra to these. I love a cinnamon streusel topping on literally anything, and this adds the perfect crunch to the top of the muffin that will have you coming back for more!
I’m serious, I can’t have just one of these.

Why You’ll Love This Cinnamon Streusel Chocolate Chip Banana Muffin
- A little something extra than your typical banana chocolate chip muffin with that added streusel topping!
- It is both sweet and delicious, and can be eaten for breakfast or as a sweet treat!
- Can be made without chocolate chips, nuts can be added, this recipe is extremely versatile!
What You’ll Need To Make These Muffins:
- Flour – I like Gold Medal but any all purpose flour will do.
- Baking Powder & Baking Soda – Helps the muffin to rise, though banana muffins don’t rise as much as other types of muffins.
- Salt – To temper the sweetness.
- Cinnamon – For added flavor and for the streusel topping.
- Ripe Bananas – Very ripe bananas are best for this recipe!
- Butter – Unsalted or salted, if using salted add less salt during the recipe.
- Brown Sugar – Light or dark brown sugar.
- White Sugar – For sweetness!
- Eggs – To bind the muffins
- Vanilla – To give it that baked delicious flavor!
- Chocolate Chips – Because what are muffins without chocolate chips?!

How To Make Cinnamon Streusel Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Melt 1/4 cup butter for streusel topping.
- Add 1/3 cup flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and 1 TSP cinnamon to the melted butter and mix.
- If the mixture is too wet, add more flour. If the streusel mixture is too dry, add more butter.
- Set streusel topping aside.
- Mash 3-4 large, ripe bananas in a large bowl.
- Add dry ingredients 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour, 1 TSP baking soda, 1 TSP Baking powder, and combine in a large mixing bowl. Add a pinch of salt if using unsalted butter. Add 1 TSP cinnamon.
- Set dry ingredients aside.
- Mix 1/2 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar, 2 TSP vanilla, and 2 eggs together in a large mixing bowl.
- Add mashed bananas to the wet ingredient mixture.
- Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredient mixture and mix to combine. Be careful not to overmix.
- Add 2 cups of either milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips and mix until just combined.
- Add muffin batter to tins and add streusel topping to the top of the batter.
- Bake at 375 for 17-20 minutes.
- Enjoy!
Notes:
- I like to butter the outside of my muffin tins incase my muffins overflow, that way the streusel won’t stick to the tin and be left behind!
- For bigger muffins increase baking time until a toothpick inserted in the center of the muffin comes out clean.
- If using salted butter, add less salt during the recipe.
