About Me

Hi! I’m Michelle, the face behind the Acorn Hill Home Blog! I am New England born and raised and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I love the seasons (fall being my favorite) and have been an animal lover my whole life. I was an Animal Science/Pre-Vet Major in college later going on to get my M.B.A and turning my education into a dream job – Project Manager for a major pet food company! I still work full time while sharing my home decor adventures with all of you. I bought my first home in April 2020 and it was a fixer upper needing a major overhaul. The remodel was one of the most rewarding projects I have ever worked on!

I have always been drawn to the modern farmhouse style being a farm girl myself. I started riding horses at the age of 6 and have been obsessed ever since! I grew up in a log cabin that my parents built and moved to a big white traditional farmhouse just before junior high. This home majorly inspired my design aesthetic with its sprawling lawn and wrap around front porch. While I love the new build modern farmhouses (and hope to have one myself someday) I love the character of older homes and all of the unique elements that come with it. I share the Acorn Hill Home with my fur children Robin Hood (aka Robbie) a senior Pomeranian (the cutest nugget you will ever see) and Kasha a DSH I adopted in April of 2018. Robin Hood is a special needs senior whom I have known since 2015 but adopted in October of 2020. He has a vast amount of neurological issues and you will often see him hanging out in a diaper (he is NOT potty trained lol!). In July of 2021 we are adding a ragdoll kitten to the Acorn Hill Home!

I recently have embraced the cottage style of decorating having a tiny home myself (804 square feet) and have just started trying my hand at gardening (I have the opposite of a green thumb).

My passions include home decor, DIY, baking, cooking, animals, horseback riding, makeup, and reading so you can expect to see a little of everything here!
